"Build a House” is an educational programme that runs over 4 years. The programme starts in the 3rd grade (9 year old pupils). The class works on a project 1 week every year and the pupils learn about different aspects of building a house. They learn about different subjects such as electrical work, construction, roof laying, architecture, décor, materials, different kinds of crafts, house loans, etc.
A primary school collaborates with the local vocational school and every year the pupils spend one whole day at the vocational school where they build a house in size 1:20. They get to take the mini house back to the classroom and continue to build the next stage of the house a year later.
One of the purposes of the process is to introduce the pupils to education and professions in the building sector and familiarise them with the vocational school.
